Engines
Engineered to perform
At the heart of the Daily is a range of Euro 6 engines that cleverly combine performance and high tractability, while also delivering excellent fuel efficiency – the latest engine range offer fuel savings of up to 10 per cent compared to previous models.
Three engines are available within the Daily line-up, beginning with a 2.3l direct injection and intercooled powerplant that produces 100kW and 350Nm of torque. The mainstay of the range is the larger 3.0l direct injection and intercooled engine which offers 132kW and 430Nm, while those requiring even greater output can opt for the market-leading 155kW and 470Nm variant of the same engine.
To meet the stringent Euro 6 emissions measure, engines employ SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology, which uses urea (often referred to as Adblue), which is injected into the hot exhaust stream and reacts with the harmful NOx (Nitrogen Oxides) to form harmless nitrogen and water vapour. Daily is fitted with a 20 litre (nominal) Adblue tank, and it’s estimated that a vehicle will consume approximately three litres of Diesel Exhaust Fluid per 100 litres of diesel fuel depending on conditions, meaning the operator will only need to refill the tank every seven or so tanks of diesel.
To reduce downtime and total cost of ownership, Daily engines have long oil change intervals of up to 50,000 kilometres, but this may vary depending on the application.

IVECO's industry-leading Hi-Matic 8-speed fully automatic transmission is the favoured option among Daily owners, owing to the comfortable and hassle-free driving experience it delivers, particularly in start and stop traffic. The Hi-Matic also makes a perfect pairing with the Daily's engine range, providing drivers with seamless power delivery and ultra-fast (200 millisecond) gear changes - the transmission ensures engines are always operating at optimal speed and efficiency.
The Hi-Matic can also be used as a sequential transmission allowing the driver to select the gears manually via the 'plus' and 'minus' positions, providing additional control should the road conditions or payload require it. Other benefits of the Hi-Matic include lower maintenance and repair costs, while an external oil cooler and 2-speed fan keep the unit cool in the hottest Australian conditions.
To further reduce fuel consumption, the Hi-Matic also features both 'Eco' and 'Power' modes. When 'Eco' is selected, the transmission reduces the engine's available torque and makes the horsepower curve more linear while 'Power' mode holds the vehicle in each gear for longer for even crisper acceleration if required.
For drivers preferring to self-shift, IVECO also offer a 6-speed synchromesh overdrive manual. This transmission provides smooth engagement via the single dry plate, hydraulically controlled clutch, while gear changes, using the ergonomically designed, dash-mounted shifter, are light yet precise. Manual Daily variants also receive a dashboard-mounted 'Eco Switch' which, when engaged, ensures power and torque are reduced to save fuel.

The manual transmission, capable of transmitting a maximum torque of 500 Nm, offers an extraordinary driving experience, with the best shifting fluidity and precision in its class.
The engagement precision has been increased by 50% with a high optimization of the free play of the gear lever compared to previous models.
It requires no oil replacement for 350,000 km, which further reduces the Daily’s TCO. In addition, when combined with the 2.3-litre engine, the clutch life is extended by 18%.
